Getting started
How do I know if my child needs ABA therapy?
If your child has an autism diagnosis, a developmental delay, or you or your pediatrician have concerns about communication, play, social skills or daily routines, an ABA assessment can help. Call us; a short conversation is often enough to know the next step.
Do I need a diagnosis to start?
Most insurance plans require an autism diagnosis to cover ABA. If your child doesn’t have one yet, we can point you to local evaluation options such as UM-NSU CARD or Florida Early Steps (under age 3), and talk about private-pay options.
How quickly can we start?
We are currently accepting new clients with no wait list. Timing depends mostly on how fast your insurance approves the assessment; we help you through that step.
What happens at the first visit?
A BCBA visits your home, plays with your child, talks with you about your goals and daily routines, and completes an assessment. From that, we write a plan together.
ABA and your child
What is ABA, in simple terms?
The science of behavior. We look at what happens before and after a behavior and use that to teach new skills, step by step, in ways that feel like play.
What ages do you work with?
We work with children and teens. Call us and we’ll tell you right away whether your child’s age and needs are a fit.
Will therapy feel like play or like school?
Like play. Sessions follow your child’s interests; skill work is woven into games, routines and everyday moments.
How are parents involved?
Very. You help choose the goals, you see the data, and you learn the strategies through parent training so progress continues when we’re not there.
Insurance and cost
Do you take my insurance?
We accept most major insurances: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Oscar, AvMed, Humana Military TRICARE, Cigna, Evernorth, Curative, Step Up For Students (FES-UA), Magellan and more. Don’t see your plan? Ask us.
Can I use the FES-UA scholarship?
Families with a Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities (administered by Step Up For Students) can use it for ABA services with an approved provider. We’ll walk you through it.
Sessions and logistics
Where do sessions happen?
In your home, and when useful, at school, preschool or in the community. We serve Miami-Dade and Broward.
How many hours per week?
It depends on your child’s assessment and your family’s schedule; your BCBA recommends a plan and your insurance authorizes the hours. We’ll explain the recommendation and why.
Do you offer services in Spanish?
Yes. Our website, forms and communication are available in Spanish, and we have Spanish-speaking team members.
